MICHAEL - 25th to 28th June Grahamstown, Colesburg, Bloemfontein

We left Port Alfred, direction Grahamstown, on the 25th of June. A remarkable date. I received my first ticket for missing a “STOP” sign. While I was busy remembering all things Lynette told me to do, like collecting the laundry, buying water and NOT to do, like buying unhealthy food, chocolate or other useless things, a policeman stopped me. He was the friendliest policeman I ever met. He laughed all the time while I was searching for my drivers license, which was certainly not in the car…so he took me to the police office, where I had to pay 700 Rand. Later the woman at the stationary-shop told me, nobody ever stops at this stop sign…
Hmmmm. The National Arts Festival in Grahamstown was very interesting. In different ways. Besides the smaller events we visited, we saw a show, playing with the 80ies. Music, TV and history of the 80ies. Absolutely funny. But we also saw a dance show. One hour in a freezing cold gymnasium, while watching dancers that only self know, what the message of their dance was. I was told, it should be art. For me the whole thing was inspired by a Jane-Fonda-Fitness-Video in slow-motion…
We spent the night in the Grahamstown backpackers, which is located in an old jail. Our first night in jail!
After that, we decided to go straight to Joburg to get some ideas and business stuff sorted.
The night in Colesburg was my coldest in South Africa. Lynette was feeling comfortable as always, when the in-room-temperature is not below zero…I was happy to have an electric blanket.
We arrived in Bloemfontein three hours before the soccer match Germany-England. Because Lynette always connects very quickly with everybody, we were able to buy some very good tickets from a not really licensed ticket-dealer. The connection was made with an English economics-teacher, previously teaching at the university of Mumbai… Edited by Little Lion: What Michael did not mention was that the chap we connected with was from an NGO who had not sold all their tickets and it was in the Tourism Office & not on the street ... !!!! And of course I love him dearly!
AND Germany won 4:1!!!!!
