20th June 2010 - MICHAEL - 11th to 17th June - "Bushmen experience"

MICHAEL - 11th to 17th June „Bushmen experience“ - somewhere in the Kalahari

After two days in Maun Sandi and Arthur picked us up at the Sedia Hotel. We drove hundreds of miles into the middle of nowhere. From this nowhere we had to hike only a „few“ miles more. We completely lost our orientation because there was nothing but bush.

For Lynette this short hike was certainly “nothing difficult”, for me it was the first time walking with a backpack miles and miles through the Kalahari. Especially because I used my “sophisticated packing” method which results in a 15kg backpack.

We camped only 100m from the bushmen camp. To be with this people for a few days was a real “lifetime-experience”. They showed us where to find water, nuts and the other things, you need to survive. We also spent a day with “trying to catch an antbear”. Lynette was more than happy, that the antbear was able to escape…

And I will always remember: When Arthur says "The night could be a little bit chilly" it means: The toothbrush is frozen the next morning.

We had many many lessons in simplifying life.
It will take a longer time to get all the physical and psychical impressions processed.
