PLANS CHANGE – MY OWN LESSON IN LOVE posted on 2010-05-23 12:44:19 I was in Zambia in Dec/Jan 2010 working with my special friend, Gail, from the Lion Heart Project who manages a gloriously gentle lodge Waterberry on the banks of the Zambezi River, close to Livingstone. We had a client from Germany stay for 1 week – Michael. He and I did the Vic Falls bungy and all sorts of adventures together … as well as a spot of romance! We really connected at a deep level. When he left, I felt like a part of my soul was missing and it took me some time to align afterwards. We had no definite plans to connect again, but kept in touch sporadically via Facebook.
Then, one day, his message arrived to say he needed to balance (his dad has cancer and things were hectic) and was coming to South Africa to do the Bloukrans bungy. I ended up flying up to Johannesburg to meet him. I had no idea what to expect or what space he would be in, especially with regard to me and any possible relationship.
Well, it turned out he had also felt a bond with me in Zambia. Just before coming to South Africa, he had left the family business and was starting a totally new phase of life … We spent a whirlwind time together seeing "my" lions at the Lion Park, doing the Orlando Towers bungy and bridge swings, a tour of the National Soccer stadium and adventure caving in Johannesburg. Then we flew down to George to do the Bloukrans bungy and spent a glorious time in Nature’s Valley and Plettenberg Bay. A short 6 days later, he returned to Germany. Again I felt like my soul had been ripped apart.
Then ... a short 3 weeks later, having sorted out all his business in Germany, he arrived on 1 May to join me on my travels through Africa. WOW!!!
Of course, for me, that puts me in a whole new space with a different commitment and a different trip to what I expected. I do not know what the future will be, but I am very excited and grateful and am willing to take the risk. Talk about "Lessons in Love"!!!
